TOP STORY: CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM AND ANTI-CORRUPTION DRIVE
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake pledged that the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution will be approved by Parliament as soon as the Supreme Court communicates its determination to the Speaker, and insisted the amendment will not be reversed. He confirmed elections will proceed as planned and said the CID and CIABOC will pursue high-profile fraud cases, arguing that justice must be swift to be effective. Echoing that line, JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said anyone found guilty of misappropriating public funds must go to prison regardless of political affiliation.
